Mobile AMA Releases Arabic Dataset 1.0 for Handwriting Research

College Park, MD, September 1st, 2007 – MobileAMA, an Applied Media Analysis company, announces the release of its Arabic Dataset 1.0! This collection of 5000 documents was derived from a unique set of 200 Arabic documents transcribed by 49 different writers from 6 different origins. This handwritten collection contains various document types including forms, formal memos, poems, diagrams, and number lists including Indic and English digits. Transcriber's wrote the material using different "speeds" ranging from formal (slowly written) to normal speed to fast or quick speed. The writings were produced by various utensils including pencil, thick marker, fine pen, and ball point pen. The dataset is in binary and grayscale settings, however additional sets are available. Dataset includes images and corresponding metadata.

The Arabic-Handwritten 1.0 dataset is available for purchase in three different licenses: Academic, Government, and Standard. Proof of academic and/or government sponsorship must be provided in order to purchase the Academic and Government licenses. Along with the license purchase, buyers will receive all data and Image Viewer updates.
